These pieces are smaller, easier to ship, and more affordable than the steel sculptures. All are handmade so there is some variation between them, especially with the heat colored ones. Most of them are available mounted on a branch rod (a special steel rod that is hammered to give an organic look) or Universal Mount, which is welded to a wood screw that can be mounted on a fence post, fence rail, tree branch, or wherever the buyer can drill a hole to mount it. Of course I am open to commissions for a favorite subject. Please go to the ‘Store’ page to order, contact me directly, or go to my page, Ohrmann Design, on Etsy.com. They are also available at the Ohrmann Museum, 2 miles south of Drummond, MT.
The magpie was my first piece of garden art. I did one for my Mother for Mother’s Day a few years back. I associated the polished unpainted steel with the stark white on some animals, which led me to think of the magpie. The two images show the branch mount and the universal mount.

Stellar Jay

Of course I had to create an example of the penultimate Montana art subject. These can be made in any size, and look good in a ‘school’. They are heat colored with details in paint.

One of the colors that come from heat coloring is a lovely shade of blue. This leads me to think of subjects that are naturally blue, and the stellar jay certainly fits that bill. The inexactness of the heat coloring, though, lends an abstract quality, which is heightened by the way the color continually changes with different angles of light. These also look good either on a branch mount or universal mount, and they like to congregate in flocks.

Yin-Yang

Bluebird

Yin and Yang together symbolize the Chinese philosophy that opposite or contrary forces are actually complementary and interdependent in the natural world. Having this symbol in your garden is a gentle reminder of this peaceful line of thinking.

This little guy naturally came to mind when I looked at the rich, indigo blue that comes from heat coloring steel. He is approximately life sized and is built a bit simpler than some of the others, so he is a little less expensive.

Ferrous Angelfish
These add a bit of whimsy to a Montana garden, being a bit different than the usual moose or bear garden stake. They also add a splash of color to a large indoor potted plant. The fish are approximately 12 inches long, and the color from the heat treat varies from fish to fish, as can be seen in the photos.
