Welded Steel sculptures

Steel is a wonderful medium to work with.  It is strong, forgiving of mistakes, and with its weight, it stays put.  Perhaps its most interesting characteristic is that there is no size limit.  With enough material, one can build anything.

Kodiak

This life sized welded steel sculpture is based on the size of the largest Kodiak bear in the Boone and Crocket records.  It is about eleven feet tall.  It incorporates stainless and mild steel, with river stones in the base.  My father, Bill Ohrmann, and I worked together on this piece in the summer of 2012.

"Eight Seconds Flat"
I was asked to submit a piece for an auction held in conjunction with the Drummond Rodeo.  My partner suggested something with a rodeo theme, so this is my rendition of the calf roping competition.  Eight Seconds Flat refers to the time for the cowboy to rope the calf, jump off his horse, and 'hog tie' the calf.  I have to admit that some cowboys who have seen it think that, with the loop the way it is, the calf probably got away.  The calf is approximately life sized.

Royal Rhino Club

This bad boy was made to grace the front of the "Royal Rhino Club" in Columbus, Ohio.  The owner was in MT fishing, and saw the rhino that Dad had made, at the Ohrmann Museum.  He asked me to make him a head mount for his men's spa.

Hootie

"Hootie is mild steel with beads of stainless steel for contrast.  He is approximately twice life sized.  As shown here, he is mounted on a tree branch, but he could also be mounted on a 4x4 or round post.
